What syncs from Jamf Pro

Setup in three steps

Create a read-only API client
In Jamf Pro: Settings → System → API Roles and Clients. Create a role with only the Read Computers privilege, then an API client using that role.

Paste credentials into Pulse
Enter your Jamf Pro URL, client ID, and client secret in Pulse's MDM settings. Pulse authenticates with OAuth client credentials — nothing is installed on devices.

Choose how devices flow in
Decide which device types sync, whether new assets and owners get created automatically, or whether Jamf only enriches assets you already track.
Common questions
What access does Pulse need in Jamf Pro?
A single API role with the Read Computers privilege — read-only, no write access. Pulse never changes anything in Jamf.
Is Pulse a replacement for Jamf?
No. Jamf manages and secures your Macs; Pulse is the ownership and accountability layer — who has each device, what's overdue for return, what it cost, and when it was assigned. They do different jobs and work best together.
What about devices that aren't in Jamf?
Track them in Pulse directly — Windows machines via Intune sync, or anything else (monitors, docks, phones, licenses) added manually or imported from a CSV. Jamf is one feed into the ledger, not a requirement.
Can a sync create duplicate assets?
No. Pulse matches on serial number, so a device that already exists is updated in place rather than duplicated.
